Harvey at the time did not seem like a big deal to us in our area, on the day of August 26, 2017 it seemed like a normal clear day, we ended up taking a trip to our grandparents house, we stayed there and had a good time, for a long time, however news was starting to become big, the storm was looking to be a category 3-4 hurricane, EAS warnings kept popping on screen as day turned into night, eventually at around 9 PM, the storm had made it to our area, and it was harsh, the streets started to flood with lightning constantly striking, you can hear the wind from inside the house, we were officially stuck as the storm would not calm down, as a result we were forced to hang around until about maybe 11 PM or 12 AM 8/27.
When we got home, nothing major had happened in terms of damage, however our two pet ducks had unfortunately drowned.
After the strike of the storm, the rest of our neighborhood was full of debris, rotten water damaged wood and furniture, thrown out and destroyed, tree sticks and leaves, everywhere, and even some fallen trees. A recognizable bush shaped like a giraffe, destroyed and gone. the sky was gloomy and dark for the rest of its time, We had lost a bit of the fence in our backyard, it had been destroyed from the storm as well.
Clean up was not as big of a problem for us, but it is pretty clear were had been blessed with a house that avoided catastrophic damage, that others were sadly unable to avoid.
