The first 2 days were prior to Harvey's rain bands attacking the Houston area. On the 27th that total amount is from late evening the 26th to 7am on the 27th. The first assault I measured over 11". I had to go out during the storm to dump my rain gauge twice. I dumped it again before going to bed and the next morning it was full again. The 28th was the better day of the three. I manage to get into work that day, however I left around 2pm when it started pouring again. The following day I was unable to get out of the neighborhood. The whole South Belt area from I45 to Hwy 288 and points south were almost totally cut off. I listen to air boats and helicopters on the 29th making water rescues in our area. My house was never in danger of flooding although homes towards the front of the subdivision near Monroe and the beltway were flooded.
